Add To The Chaos!

Top MMO list at F13.

Please follow the damn directions. I’d be disgusted if one of my seven readers didn’t get his list counted because he could not READ.

Someday I’m going to write a Defense of LOTRO post, though, because if one more person makes fun of me in IM, I’m going to go totally nazgul.

My wife and I are back playing LotRO again because it’s really the best out there, at least for our tastes.

I’m passing on the list thing, since I’ve only really played one, and you’re all too familiar with it (rhymes with Fark Mage of Cram a Bot). But I did play it for almost four years so it had *some*thing bringing me back.

I’ve decided that the MMORPG called real life needs some attention, and it seems to be paying off.

I’m reader #8 by the way, lurking until now. Keep up the posts!

    Cheers.

Glad you posted about this. It’s good to see more people chiming in. I love to read what people have to say about the MMOGs they’ve played.

Also, I’m headed back to LoTRO for a bit. The lore just draws me in every time. I also have a soft spot in my heart for Turbine.

Wow, I’d agree with the rundown pretty much down the line, except I’d rank Puzzle Pirates above Shadowbane. In fact, I’d kick Shadowbane off the list and then kick it some more, for good measure.

My current games are: EQ2, LotRO, POTBS (open Beta), WoW. And that’s the order in which I would rank them. LotRO is *fun* and *pretty*. Pretty counts. I love the crafting, and I like the concept of Monster Play (first time pvp has interested me since RvR). It’snot as in-depth a game as some, so I drop in and out, but I can see myself playing it that way for years.

I’ll have to take a look at the link from home. *mutter mutter* websense *mutter*

LotRO is an aquired taste, but I’m enjoying it immensely. I get to be a Hobbit in Middle-earth. Nine months into the game we’ve seen 3 (I think … maybe 4?) expansions, housing and a decent crafting system with new stuff added periodically. It’s not as refined as WoW, then again, it’s not 3 years old either.

Thanks for the link. Another forum to troll, er… browse when I need to kill some time.
Only active in WoW and LotRO now. WoW, LotRO, UO and DAoC were the only ones I paid for, but I beta tested enough to form an opinion – at least an opinion of “I’m not paying for this.”

A very interesting Poll, and even more interesting are the results/votes people are posting.
After thinking about it, I honestly find it difficult to come up with a solid list. Its not because I haven’t played many games – if I could recoup all the money I have invested in games and monthly fees and could stick it into my 401K I would be a lot better off. The problem I run into is that I liked UO for different reasons than I liked EQ, and so forth. I also find that a good portion of my joy sometimes revolved around doing things with Friends.

I’m not impressed with that polling system. I gave Horizons enough pts with my vote to put it over 50 in rating, but it’s still stuck at 49. Not everything is being updated.

Apache- true, but you can cycle through more than just two if you get bored. Plus actively playing these games was not a caveat of the voting system.

I read you from time to time, do I count in that 7 users, or am I like a 7.01 user?

I liked LOTRO, but I just didn’t have time for it when it came out, so I had to cancel. Then when a good friend got laid off by Turbine, we decided not to play anymore at all when we found the time to play another MMO.

I’m surprised Silk Road Online didn’t make the list… I dare say, I’m actually having fun in that game… even with the problems associated with it being a Joymax game. If I weren’t so lazy, I’d sign up and add it, but complaining about it missing just takes so much less energy.

    LOTRO…
My personal vendetta screams across all blogs and forums.
    Sorry…but, LOTRO is as follows

    1. Lackluster gameplay
    2. Great Landscapes, horrible character models and animations
    3. Jerky gameplay for various players with specific hardware
    4. UI made for people still using glass CRT’s (Try anything above 1280×1024, and you have to squint)
    5. Difficult to keep playing after level 30

So…I am pleased to see it lower on the list…as so many games have already done this type of play, and better…
    Adios
